Merrell's reputation as on of the leading brands in outdoors hikers is well deserved of a mention regarding this particular product. Very much well received, the shoes are very comfortable as they are durable, at a rather reasonable price of $100.00 for a good line of hikers. Purpose wise, this pair works well for hiking purposes. The tread grip is outstanding, enabling excellent maneuverability on most surfaces and terrains, while limitations may come up on slippery rocks and surfaces, but such grip still provide excellent stability in movement. This should serve well for those intending to further explore a trail, or probably more "off trail" experiences. The tongue of this shoes is by far, excellent. A popular shoe, and one worth spending your dollars on for a long term. Here are some of the customer reviews, so far has always been highly approving. I would like to have some more of this shoe personally. Judging from the appearance of the shoe, this pair also makes good casual footwear. Comfortable, lightweight, and durable, what not to like.

5.0 out of 5 stars If they make my husband happy... October 23, 2012
By cookandrun
We bought these last week, and so far so good. My husband finds them very comfortable and wears them everywhere. The only problem is that his custom inserts (which fit inside of previous pairs of Merrell shoes) don't fit. The ankle is lower than in his previous shoes from Merrell, and the inserts push his foot up out of the shoe. He has been wearing them without the inserts, and thinks they are great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most comfortable shoe I've owned October 8, 2012
By iJeep2

I was tempted to give this shoe five stars right out of the box - it was so comfortable. But I wanted some time with the product before reviewing. So I've worn these shoes almost full time for a couple of months now and I can say without a doubt that these are the most comfortable shoes I've worn. They fit more like socks than shoes (EXACTLY what I was looking for). I do wear socks with these (for odor and moisture reasons, not comfort). If you are a sockless guy, go for it. The lining is smooth, soft and full. If sockless, just be sure to size down 1/2 size. For sock wearing, order your size straight up. These size true (I now own two pair and they both size dead-on). If you are between sizes in different brands, order up to the next size (again, only if you plan to wear socks).

These shoes have ruined me. I cannot stand wearing my cross trainers any more. The tongue on a typical athletic shoe absolutely bothers me now. Once you wear the stretch style, you'll never feel as comfortable in a "tongue" shoe.

For the intended application (hiking), these have fantastic tread grip. The tread is soft and supple to the touch, not hard. The only time I've felt tread slip was on a slick wet aluminum bleacher tread (football game - not hiking trail). But with any grit on any trail - save for maybe mossy wet rocks - this tread holds great.

I want to buy a lifetime supply lest Merrell's marketing group ever decides to change the design and discontinue these. I hope they never do. You will not regret buying this shoe.

The typical price for this hikers in the market and as of Merrell's is $100.00, and a maximum of $120.00 for many cases. On limited options, price as low as $71.99 is available here through Amazon. Clicking on the Amazon link will lead to the details page complete with size and color options, and you may get lucky by getting the minimum price.

Wish you happy shopping, all for the passion of the outdoors.
