By Urban Walker
3/2012. This is the second pair of women's Arroyo II's I've owned. The Arroyo II seems to run a bit narrower than most other Keen shoes of this type which is just fine with me since my feet are narrow (2A). They are still a little wide for me even with medium weight socks, but I chinch them down tight. On the last pair of Arroyo II's I had, I added a second lace through the top two sets of loops so that I could tighten the heel more. It made all the difference on long walks on rough terrain. I will be doing the same on this pair as well. I also sometimes replace the footbed (inter-soles) if I'm wearing thiner socks. I always were socks with these shoes. Which brings me to my biggest problem with this shoe -- the accent color Sap Green. I would much prefer all neutral colors (browns, grays, blacks). Sap Green just does not go with many colors. This is an issue with me because I'd like to be able to wear this shoe everywhere (that a casual shoe would be acceptable) with my many colorful socks. My old, worn out Arroyo II's were brown with gray accents. Loved them. One additional observation--this is a rather heavy shoe at almost 13 oz per shoe.

I was hesitant to buy shoes on line but decided to take a chance. The shoes arrived on time and in perfect shape. The next day I wore them all day and I had to do a lot of running around and walking. They were comfortable from the get-go. I am very pleased and would not hesitate to purchase shoes from Columbia again.

I love these shoes! I normally wear size 10 tenna shoes (roomy) but I got these a half size down and they fit perfect :) This is my first FiveTen shoe and I'm so impressed. I've gone running in them, mountain biking and hiking and then I hate to take them off :) Comfortable, solid like a hiking boot, but also light weight.

Excellent shoes for both the city and for the nature and rocks. Moisture does not factor in the inside, not hot, light, non-slip grip even on wet rocks. 10 out of 10 points.
This is the ultimate outdoor hiking and scrambling shoe! First time I used them I had to downclimb a steep slab and just "trust" these shoes... It's like being concreted to rock! You will not budge!

7. Merrell Womens Crystaline Moc Waterproof
I really like this style of shoe for my ~20 minute walk to work during the winter. I've had Merrells in the past and this shoe does not disappoint for warmth, water resistance and traction. So far so good. Hoping this shoe holds up better than the last few pairs of non-Merrells.
These are the most confortable shoes I have ever bought. I need arch suport and they provide it . I used them all last winter and are still in great shape , but am getting another pair just in case. I really wish I could get this exact same fit in a non winter shoe--these are a little warm to wear inside. It seems many Merrells run differerntly, but I LOVE these!

6. Columbia Women's Wallawalla 2 Low Trail Shoe
Columbia
If you're a Columbia freak like I am, you will LOVE these shoes. I ordered them without having tried them on and ordered my usual size. They fit perfect. The coloring is really nice and neutral, I can wear them with anything. They are really comfortable just like all of the Columbia's I've owned. I definitely recommend these to anyone wanting comfortable, nice, long lasting shoes.
5. Keen Women's Shasta WP Waterproof Trail Shoe
I LOVE THESE SHOES! This is my second pair of Keen shoes and I couldn't be more pleased. They run true to size, are extremely lightweight, and "all day" comfortable with a roomy toe box making them extremely comfortable for problematic feet (bunions). There is virtually no "break-in" to these shoes. Put 'em on and keep on going.
I read tons of reviews before buying this shoe and most stated that they run small and to go a 1/2 size up, which I did. Unfortunately they were a bit too tight. What I did not see in may of the reviews were they types of feet the reviewers have. I have medium flat feet(high volume)and need to go up a full size. The arch is comfortable for flat feet but can see how someone with a high arch would find it uncomfortable. I plan to return for a full size larger.

4. Teva Women's Sky Lake eVent Hiking Shoe
These are the shoes I use for my everyday needs. I walk around in them, I work out in them - I wear them almost everyday. These shoes are so comfortable, that if you wear them enough, you won't want to go back to flimsy popular things. They roll your foot along the outside, taking a lot of pressure off of the ball and allowing women to walk in a more comfortable, natural way. I rarely have very sore feet, even if I have a very busy day.
I bought a pair of these for my mom (she has a bazillion feet problems) and these shoes have actually helped her with a lot of those. She can stand up longer, she never trips while she's walking, and her feet are much less sore at the end of the day.
I have worn this brand/model of shoe for about 5 years now. I buy a new pair every year. I will warn that if you wear them enough, and especially if you get every once in a while lazy and just jam your feet in without untying the laces, then there is a little plastic ankle support piece behind the heel that gets bent inward and sticks into the back of your ankle. It's really sharp, and it chafes. I am a lazy when it comes to putting shoes on, so I do the cram the foot in thing a lot. Therefore I buy new shoes every year. However, the actual shoe, besides the little plastic back, is never worn out by the time I need a new pair. So if you are careful, even with extensive wear, these shoes should last you a long time.
(PS: I have also used these for hiking, and they grip the trail amazingly and keep my feet very cool and comfortable).
I always wear Merrells to work. These have great support AND cushion. I've learned to buy a half size larger for a better fit.
I bought these based on the other reviews on Amazon, and while I'm not as blown away as some purchasers, I'm pretty satisfied with these shoes as a whole. They aren't as comfortable as I would have liked, but I think that is more a case of my foot neuromas than with the shoe itself. They are well constructed, give my feet pretty good support, and best of all have a lot of toe room. When I get my new orthotics I think the comfort level will improve. I would really recommend these shoes to all.
1. Merrell Women's Siren Sport Hiking Shoe
Being a cross-trainer, the soles are a little stiffer than most of the walking shoes I've had, but I've found I like the stiffer sole for me. I've got a plantar plate tear on the second toe of my right foot and with these shoes, I get much more support for the ball of the foot and much less aggravation for that toe. I feel like I get great cushioning and support from the sole over every part of the shoe's surface and it allows me to maintain much better traction when I'm walking to work. I walk fast, about a 4 mph clip, and these shoes make me feel like I'm floating on air above the ground.
The only minor con to the shoe is that for people with above average arches, you will probably want a different insole. Otherwise, this is a really great shoe.
I am totally switching my brand loyalty to Merrell.
I had foot surgery in February and desperately needed a comfortable shoe. The shoes have been very comfortable so far. I only get to wear them in the evenings and on weekends but have used them for walking and casual wear. These shoes are actually the first closed toe shoes I have tried since the surgery and I have been very pleased. Based on previous reviews I did buy a half size larger.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very comfortable lightweight hiking shoes August 28, 2011
By Carol, Missouri
Love these Teva hiking shoes after having to return another brand that was not comfortable on my foot. They give me the support I need without the heaviness many hiking boots have. These shoes are more like a good quality tennis shoe, but a bit heavier and supportive on the sides and bottom - just what I need for my hiking level. I would definitely recommend ordering 1/2 to one full size larger than your normal shoe size because they do run small.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly what was expected. October 1, 2011
By Addison
This shoes seems very durable as with every Teva product I have used. Very nice color and overall appearance is great. However, the shoe size runs small (half size smaller) and narrow. I do not have a wide foot. However, the shoes fits very tight and the sole is so narrow that I feel like part of my foot is hanging off of the side with my toes compressed very tightly together. The overall comfort is not what I expected from a Teva product which normally offers a slightly wider shoe size.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, sturdy and look good! May 17, 2012
By Chelsea Hart
Purchased these shoes to do some hiking around the Otway Ranges along the Great Ocean Road. I couldn't have bought better shoes! They were super comfortable straight out of the box (didn't need to spend any time breaking them in) and felt comfortable and supportive no matter how long I wore them. We did some intense hiking and my feet remained dry and comfortable.
3.0 out of 5 stars Attractive shoe, poor stability. January 12, 2012
By Jene Soleil
Unfortunately, I've been a bit disappointed bu the Teva Sky Lake, but let me start with what I do like. Five stars for the way they look, and very well-made. They run true-to-size, and maybe a little wide, so if you need a little extra width, they're great.
Here's what I don't like. I've found these shoes to have poor arch support, which really surprised me since they're made by Teva, a company that incorporates a fair amount of arch support in most shoes. I've also found them to be somewhat unstable because they have a tilt from the ball of the foot to the toe, which I believe is supposed to propel your foot forward. I've decided to keep them, and I've switched out the insole for one with more support, but I'm sorry to say that this pair will never be my favorite. I'll keep searching.

This shoe just hugs my foot and makes the hikes that I take much more enjoyable. I am usually hefting my 11 month old in the baby backpack and I was super sore the next day, but now my feet feel much better. I like Merrell products a lot and will continue to be a loyal customer in the future!!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent fit and performance, October 13, 2012
I've had Merrells recommended to me in the past, but I clung to the brand I'd been wearing for the past 10 years because I was afraid the shoes would be too narrow for my feet. I have fairly prominent bunions, so I need something with a relatively wide toe box. I was extremely pleased with the fit of these shoes. They aren't overly wide, but they don't pinch the way so many brands do, to the point I always had to go up a half size to get the width I needed. I can actually wear my regular size with these. Another thing about the fit is that the heel doesn't slip. Too often, a shoe tends to be pretty much the same width from toe box to ankle, but these hug my ankle perfectly.
And there we have it. Much like that of men's, Merrell made it on top, but brands to be considered here are also the likes of Columbia, Teva and Keen. Columbia shoes are cheapest on average The FiveTen Women's Guide Tennie Hiking Boot could be of some interest tough, as for such a tough pair, it is worn for running as well.
More shoes coming up, and possibly more lists to help you out in buying those hikers. Let's get outdoors, and with shoes like these, hiking should be much more of a great experience, urban or countryside.
Wish this blog, and this post in particular help you in getting the most suitable pair of hiking shoes.
Cheers.
